Russian Valeri Nichushkin is the big climber in our third look at this year's top draft eligibles, and we're far enough into the season to list the top 15. What does that mean? We can project the Oilers 'draft window' and what might be available. Top 15 after the jump.

What order the wins and losses came in really doesn’t matter. The Oilers went 4-2-1 in January, and optimism abounded; so far they’ve gone 2-4-2 in February and consequently optimism is in short supply. What matters is that the team is 6-6-3 on the season, sits 11th in the Western Conference, and is just one win out of either the final playoff spot or second-last.
And that means whatever viewpoint one subscribes to – the ‘yes, they’ll make the playoffs’ or ‘Draft Lottery IV: This Time It’s Personal’, there’s something there to back it.

Nikolai Khabibulin's start tonight signals the annual "whos coming and who's going?" showcase period leading up to the trade deadline. Although this year's deadline is April 3, chances are we'll see a few March deals as teams try to address need early to stay in the race.
We don't know if the Oilers will be buyers or sellers, but we can identify possible areas to address and some players who might be headed out of town.

Up until Saturday night the Edmonton Oiler franchise record for shots in a game was 55, against Minnesota on March 21st, 1986, but the young Oilers eclipsed that after firing 56 v. Colorado. The Oilers peppered Semyon Varlamov for 60 minutes, and despite falling behind 3-0 they kept attacking in waves as nine different players had at least four shots.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ended a 12-game goal scoring slump, Jordan Eberle ended an 8-game slump and both looked very relieved afterwards. Was it a one-game outburst or are the Oilers starting to find their way out of their offensive slumber?
