What will Todd Nelson do?

The OKC Baron's training camp starts next Friday, followed by two exhibitions games on October 5th and 6th before their regular season starts October 12th. Nelson has a wonderful dilemma; will he play Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle on the same line, or will he split them up so four Oiler prospects can benefit from playing with them?

What would you do? I know what I would do, but first let's hear from the head coach.

Losing interest in the NHL

The 3.3 billion dollar question is: will the interest that NHL teams are paying their season ticket holders to keep their money on account, be sufficient to offset the inevitable drop in fan interest in the NHL as a product the longer the lockout continues? I'm pretty sure the answer is no. Except maybe in Minnesota, where the Wild are offering an astonishing 10% APR for fans that leave their money with the team.

Hmmm, that gives me an idea...

The Edmonton Oil Kings gave our city a tremendous thrill this spring and are back for another season. They are regarded as one of the best teams in the league, and should contend for the title again. For Oiler fans, there are some quality prospects already in the system to watch--and one very good center who looks like a top 10 pick in the 2013 entry draft.

When the possibility of a lockout was still uncertain, KHL was looked at as the haven players would go to if all goes to hell. NHL’s nemesis took its time before announcing special criteria for foreign players willing to cross the Atlantic for a lockout shelter. You would assume KHL put us all on hold to come up with criteria that would really unsure that only top players could come.

They sure fooled us big time, didn’t they?
