GDB 43: Wild thing

We had to laugh. We had four emails and texts today from buddies who asked us what is wrong with the Nation.

“Oh is it down?” we asked. “Our shared server has been crashing lately.” To our suprise this wasn’t the case at all.

“No, no the site is up.” our buddy replied. “It’s just nothing has been written on it and it’s 3pm. What’s the deal? How am I supposed to waste time at work?”

That’s rich.

For the first eight months that the Nation was around we were proud if we wrote every day. Then we started getting the team together and there are some days we have five separate articles. Even if the team sucks people still love their Oilers. Now we have people who actually want to read something on a more regular schedule. We shall attempt to meet your terrorist demands fellas. Our apologies.

Real News

Oilers and Wild play tonight. As unhappy as some of us may be in the Nation there is one thing we can hang our hat on. No matter how many mediocre games are delivered stone cold to our door by the Oilers Crap Pizza Corporation, we can all agree that we share in some common good fortune as fans of The Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club:

At least we aren’t paying a fall-down like Gaborik that kind of dough for that kind of performance.

He’s how talented?

How often does he get injured?

What are some of his shady “injuries?”

You offered him how much money? For how many years? And he turned it down?

Ugh.

Go Oil.

Can you blame people for wanting to be you?! C’mon! I’ve seen the fancy fashion layout on your website!!! Gregor….he’s so hot right now….Gregor.

"I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, really ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is."

Favourite quote from Zoolander. Classic film…or

"You gotta cut me"…during their walkoff when they are mimicking Rocky…Love it…

Gord – I'm not sure if that's being completely fair to Horcoff. Yeah, he's being used right now as a "plumber", but that line doesn't work otherwise without a set-up man.
Penner needs something started where he can mix it up in front and bang away at rebounds.

With Minny's system, I really think this was a game we were unlikely to walk away with in our current state.

Hey, little help here, a few of us just booked tix to see the Oil in LA in Feb. I hear the Staples Center is in East LA and I don’t want to get shanked. So who should I join, the Bloods or the Crips?
Serioulsy though, has anone been to a game there and if so should where should we park, or any good ideas to get to the game safely and cheaply? I hear Staple Center is in a shady area.

The Staples Center isn't in a shady area. It's downtown. You're thinking of the Great Western Forum, which was in Inglewood and was in a very tough neighborhood.
Don't wear the wrong colored bandana and it's 50-50 at worst that somebody will stick a gun in your nostril and shoot your face off.

    @ RobinB:
Well thats crappy news, I was really looking forward to becoming a Crip, I could use the job stability.

Thanks for advise Brownlee, can I borrow your media credentials, go downstairs, just to get a close up look at big sexy himself… Liam Reddex.

  • I'm a Scientist!

    @ Hockey Gods:
No you can't. Media credentials aren't for the kind of twisted stuff you're obviously into.

Just some added advice . . . the guys hanging around outside the rink like it when people from out of town flash money and talk loud. If you see somebody eye-balling you, just say, "You looking at me?" Take JSBM with you.

    It'a a laugh riot.

Having read this entire GDB 3 thoughts spring to mind

    1) 1% of this is even remotely close to being about hockey

    2) I don't understand 67% of what was said tonight

    3) Brownlee just posted on here even though he is on vacation. I think someone likes the nation more than he lets on.

I'm impressed you spelt eugoogoolizer…that is impressive. Sleep tight with visions or Souray skating in your head.

And Fishbourne will rock on CSI..He is one bad ass mother…

    Dear Dustin Penner:

Your intensity during hockey games is inspiring to watch. You truly return us to the roots of the game as you bring a pond hockey level game to the rink every night.

    Your Fan,

At least I didn't miss much of a hockey game going to the theatre to watch Gran Torino.

    @ Gregor

Did you drop a DOLPHIN in bed on here tonight!?!? I knew you liked the football fish, but the bedside dirty drawer fish…

That is the biggest reason I don't drink anything while reading JL's. Just like the Jim Rome show my computer would be fuct up daily.
