  According to the general manager Edmonton Oilers, Taylor Hall is coming along nicely as a hockey player. He is making good decisions and playing better than ever this season. Maybe he’s right. But the data emphatically points to something having gone sideways in the game of the Oilers’ best offensive player.

Ben Scrivens was decidedly understated today when Jason Gregor and I asked him if joining the Edmonton Oilers was his big chance to prove he’s a bonafide NHL starter — a timely opportunity, seeing as he’s approaching unrestricted free agency. One can hardly blame him.

Well you can’t say GM Craig MacTavish hasn’t been active since taking the reins. On Thursday he shook things up even more, sending Devan Dubnyk to Nashville for Matt Hendricks and a 3rd rounder to the Los Angeles Kings for goaltender Ben Scrivens. I’m not sure any of them register as bold or huge moves…
