The Oklahoma City Barons Depth Chart

What is happening on the Oilers’ farm team? Which players are legitimate call-up options? Which prospects are improving their stock and which ones are falling off the map? With Edmonton’s playoff ambitions dead for months, the focus of fans naturally turns to the future and a good chunk of that future can be found in…

WHAT HAPPENED TO DUBNYK?

Devan Dubnyk’s SV% had improved during his first three NHL seasons. His first season he had a .910, then 9.14 and last year he finished with a .920SV%, but this year in 29 games with the Oilers his SV%, .896, and his overall play took a huge dip. What happened? I asked him.

BETWEEN THE LINES: MY TAKE

Daryl Katz’s "open letter" to fans of the Edmonton Oilers today has already drawn plenty of reaction from those it was directed at. Fans at the cynical end of the spectrum have dismissed it as a stinking sack of spin meant to buy time and defend the friends he employs. Others, less jaded by what…

Daryl Katz Reaches Out To Oilers Fans

The Edmonton Oilers’ famously reclusive owner didn’t make an appearance on Monday, but he did something else, addressing an increasingly hostile fanbase through a letter on the team’s official website.

The Perfect Storm

I love George Clooney. Call it a man crush! The guy has got style. He is the only person I know that can make a tuxedo look casual at the same time as formal. He has got it going on. How about his hair! Wow. Sick loaf. That salt and pepper look seems to really…

BLUE ON BLUE

The Edmonton Oilers have Jeff Petry just past 200 NHL games, Justin Schultz in the 90s and Martin Marincin just past a baker’s dozen. The club also has Darnell Nurse ripping up junior, and a large number of prospects posting improving arrows in the AHL. How many of these kids can they develop in the…

POST GAME: WIN BATTLES!!!!

Today’s loss to the Jets was a perfect example of how losing one-on-one battles can cost you a game. The Oilers played fairly well for the first two periods, but in the third and OT the Jets simply wanted it more, or at least their actions showed that they did.

AREA 51: NO SECRETS HERE

Today is Hockey Day in Canada for the rest of the country but it’s Groundhog Day for fans of the Edmonton Oilers as they were treated to more of the same song and dance in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Familiar stuff.

GDB 51.0: HOCKEY DAY…. LEADERSHIP NEEDED

It is Hockey Day in Canada, and all seven Canadian teams are in action. This year the Senators are the odd team out, playing at home vs. the Rangers, while the Canucks battle the Flames, Toronto is in Montreal and the Oilers take on the Jets at noon Edmonton time.

Taylor Fedun is ready for the majors

Taylor Fedun is the best defenceman in Oklahoma City, and it isn’t even all that close this season. As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing left for him to prove at the AAA level, and he can be a useful NHL player right now. I may be right or I may be wrong on that,…

TRAVELLING MEN

Tyler Pitlick played for the Oklahoma City tonight, scoring a goal and adding an assist in the Barons game against Rochester. He’s 2-2-4 in his last five games, and should be close to ready for callup.
