  • Andrew Miller had another strong week. He’s a similar player-type to Mark Arcobello, it’ll be interesting to see if he gets an NHL chance (doesn’t have Marco’s offense, but he’s good).
  • Iiro Pakarinen is back scoring it’ll be interesting to see if he gets a recall this season.
  • Josh Winquist is one of those Bob Green signings who was never drafted but could end up being something. His first AHL look is going well.

  1. Roman Horak, Vityaz Podolsk (KHL) 42GP, 18-12-30 (2GP, 0-0-0)
  2. Anton Slepyshev, Salavat Yulaev (KHL) 42GP, 7-7-14 (2GP, 1-0-1 this week)

  4. Daniil Zharkov Torpedo (VHL) 28GP, 1-3-4 (did not play this week)

Notes:

  • Roman Horak had success with Todd Nelson in OKC. If Nelson retains the coaching job in Edmonton, it might be interesting to see Horak come  back.
  • Anton Slepyshev had a great Spengler, here’s hoping he gets more KHL ice time.
  • Love these prospect updates Lowetide. My Question is how do you come up with the goalie statistics? This week broissoit played 2 games, but his GAA was 4, not 5.26. I also came up with an .853 over those 2 games. Just wondering is all? (game #1 got pulled after letting in 4 goals on 21 shots, Game #2 won, 4 goals against on 39 shots)

    • Eulers

If he gave up 4 goals in 45 minutes they would take that four goals and translate it to a 60 min average for that game
So he only gave up 4 but he was on pace to give up more

    • CaliforniaOil

I’m fairly sure GAA accounts for full 60 min of a game so if you get pulled it goes at the rate you were being scored on at before the pull expanded over entire game? I may be wrong but I think that’s how it works

  • Eulers

I’d be interested in hearing more about Anton Slepyshev’s outing at Spengler. In the one game I watched, I recall hearing that he and our dear departed Linus Omark were leading the tourney in scoring, or something to that effect.

    • Jaxon

As an Oiler fan it was funny/depressing to see the players at the tournament this year. I spotted: Jim Vandermeer, Alexander Giroux, Jani Rita, Matthew Lombardi, Marc-Antoine Pouliot, Linus Omark, Teemu Hartikainen, Ryan Martindale, Curtis Hamilton, Anton Slepyshev. Or maybe I should be relieved that all of them except the 3 youngest are no longer with the team and those youngsters still have an outside chance of turning things around, especially Slepyshev. For any players over 23 or 24 (maybe even younger), being in the tournament basically confirms their NHL career is over.

  • Eulers

    Virtual_Xi
52 saves on 60 shots is .867. GAA is based on actual minutes played, getting pulled means that you did not play an actual 60 min. so your GAA will be goals x 60/actual min. played.

  • CaliforniaOil

Hey how about we send Kieth Aulie and Gazzer to the AHL and bring up a D prospect (ex.anyone but Hunt) and a F prospect (ex.Little butt checks) and throw them in the line up whenever we are playing a schedule loss, and see what they can do. i know the NHL isnt a development league but if we are tanking… *spits on the ground and jumps three times* then i would love to see Osterle, or Simpson, and good old M&M gets some licks in.

  • CaliforniaOil

    LT,

Think we might get to see Jason Williams on a call up. Seems like he’s been consistantly putting up numbers all year. I know he’s a bit old and thusly written off as having a future but I love these older guys that fly under the radar and have game.
Apparently Derek Roy wasn’t ggod enough anymore either… Yet here he is looking like a tonic for the club and a man reborn.

  • Awesome! I never new that. Thanks for the explanation gang. Super impressed with the continued development of brossoit! Having our barons go deep in the playoffs one last time would be a great send off when they move the team.

  • Sammy p

hey Lowetide, love the prospect updates. In the future could you include the position these guys play? thx. btw love the show; is it time for the mid morning muppet segment with Dennis King on the daily? he is Rishaug good.
