  • Brad Hunt had a big day this afternoon and may see a recall later in the season.
  • Curtis Hamilton’s goal was shorthanded and that’s one more way he may see NHL action this year.

  • Kyle Platzer is posting stunning numbers compared to last year.
  • Marco Roy had a good week. That Remparts team is loaded so he isn’t going to get a lot of 5×4 time but he looked good in today’s game.
  • Darnell Nurse rocked it on Friday night against the Erie Otters. A man among boys.
  • Leon had a quiet week.

Question: Would you like me to add the ECHL Bakersfield Condors?

  • Andresito

Yikes draisatl only just a bit better than 1 ppg is a little worrisome for a 19 yr old drafted 3rd overall. He mustve lost aLOT of confidence playing NHL too early. MacT 25 … Oiler fans 0.

    • Lofty

I’m excited to see how Sam Bennet does next year. The kid I wanted to take. Will Bennet be eligible for the CHL next year or is he gonna have to jump right into the AHL after missing a year?

    • Andresito

I disagree..I’ve seen most of Draisaitl’s games since getting sent down and he looks like a star..man amongst boys..often he over passes..but even when he does its not his fault that his teammates cant cash in on grade A scoring chances. Only thing I would like to see him change is to become a little bit shelfish sometimes cuz he can drive the net..lots of speed and size and has a great shot too. He has looked great for the Rockets so far.

    • Lofty

Woah there buddy. He’s been doing really good in the Dub since he got put down, just looked like he may have had a bad week, or just unlucky. But hey, got to serve that anti-MacT agenda, which we totally haven’t been fed in the comments since October, right?

    • bazmagoo

So MacT goes on 630 ched or team 1260 and says he’s comfortable with Schultz and Klefbom as our 1st pairing d-men moving forward. Can’t believe people are actually talking about buying season tickets on Oilersnation, shame on you Nation! The tank job is in, it’s official. Guess they don’t like Northlands, that’s my best guess. Either that or they don’t like Edmontonians. Hoping for improvement 2016 – 17 season.

      • bazmagoo

Hold on! Are you telling me that after 9 years of rebuilding you’re not comfortable with a top defence pairing of 24 year old who has a career minus -43 with 174 games played, and a 21 year old who’s played a grand total of 48 NHL hockey games?? Come on man, that seems perfectly normal! What could possibly go wrong?

  • 24% body fat

Bogdan Yakimov seems to have been running in place for a couple weeks.

Draisatl is getting close to the time he should start taking off. Sounds like people viewing him really like his play and is starting to develop chemistry.

  • 24% body fat

Platzer replaces Lander in OKC next year. Betker to replace Oesterle. Chase to replace ewanyk. Roy signs. Houck will sign if Pitlick is in plans for NHL next year or C Hamilton is dropped. Laleggia can replace hunt in OKC. Bring over Slepyshev.

    Cull the following players.

Ryan hamilton, Jones Twins, Kesseu, Ludwig, Gazdic, Aulie, Bouchard, Muir, McCarron, Coughlin, Tyrvainen, and Zharkov.

Please stop drafting BCHL players who arent a ppg in there league when they are drafted.

    • 24% body fat

The Jones twins have shown great leadership and you need them to market the Condor franchise. The fan base there is very familiar with them and having them gives the fan base an instant connection to the team as they move from an ECHL market into the AHL market. Do not undervalue that because one of the reasons for the move is that OKC could not build on the initial fanbase and increase attendance beyond 4000 die hards. Bakersfield apparently will match that and more.

Of your list Gazdic is not going anywhere either. Critics and fans alike undervalue his contribution on the ice. Taylor Hall etal not only like Gazdic as a teammate. They also value his ability to that the opposing team does not take liberty’s with their less than physical players. Remember how it was before Gazdic arrived> I do and Taylor dropping the gloves led to a pretty severe injury to his leg. So if you want a return o that by all means let him go. Matt Hendicks can only fight so much. Gordon? He has had 0 fights as an Oiler.Klinkhammer. Willing and able. But if you really want a deterant you play Gazdic 4-7 minutes a night.

Lowetide in your esteemed and most informed position where do you think TKachev rates in this years draft? Is he a 2cd round pick?3rd/4th? Where does he rate in your opinion?

Martin Marincin? If Nelson’s magic/voodoo works on this kid as much as its had on Lander,Yak, Klefbom and Shultz this season will for me will have turned from vomit bag to one where we can say That was painful but the pain was worth the results. It seems, barring last night head shaker, that the team may actually be developing prospects that can play in the NHL. There is still a way to go for some of these players but by Jove there are signs of hope on the horizon.

      • 24% body fat

This is not The ECHL anymore. The oilers want their AHL team to develop players. IF having the Jones twins around to sell tickets in Bakersfied is the plan that is just silly. They are not good at hockey. Do this all you want in AA but in AAA it is more important that we develop proper players than worry about attendance when we have a billionaire owner.

Since when is it good to have a terrible player on your NHL team. Sure Hall said he liked having him but he also said that about Eakins. What does it do to the players to have Gazdic fight the McGrattons of the world. Two horrible players fighting each other and playing four minutes a night and costing their time goals. I am all for fighting if someone takes a cheap shot at one of our players, but lets face it those cheap shot guys are not going to fight anyways. What if somehow Crosby lands a big clean hit on Hall would you want Gazdic to go after him? What if Hall hit someone clean is it alright for their goon to come after him. I have yet to see any proof that this team is safer or plays better with Gazdic in the line up. Fighting in hockey is evolving and your way of thinking is outdated. It may have worked 20 years ago when the goons could also actually play hockey.
Team will always take liberties at the oilers until they are tougher to play against, and not in a Gazdic sense. The other team wants Gazdic on the ice, I would.

We will not get out of the basement with this plug in our lineup.

  • Lowetide

I love these updates, but I hate the Oilers for having me be so desperate for something positive in ‘our’ organization that I have to follow the AHL, CHL, KHL, etc etc to find it. WHen will it end? Thanks for the reprieve from the NHL pain in the meantime!

  • 24% body fat

Bring on the Condors! I’m cheering for Muir, the kids enormous and is getting very little pp time, miles of track to go but ever since Platzer took off I had to find a new underdog. 🙂

  • Lowetide

Don’t think Bakersfield will be too important. Winquist and the Kellen brothers were the only ones I was even remotely monitoring and they’re in OKC now

  • This is great news about Nurse!!!!

Only three more years until he becomes anything worth resembling an everyday NHL defencemen

Unless of course your name is MacTavish, and the Oilers…………..Then you’re a future Norris Trophy candidate and you don’t need to develop in the AHL.

We are stuck with Kevin Lowe and Mact!!

We are going to continue sucking the giant balls until they are gone!

Kevin lowe and MacT aren’t going anywhere, and think they are on the right track.

Every single team and fan in the league can’t believe we still suck, and have zero idea why we still have Lowe and MacT!!

    • Umm…. Hate to burst you’re bubble, but these arn’t weekend updates. These are simply the facts of life. Everyone in the world, including the African child I sponsored 15 years ago thats never even seen electriciy, know that Kevin Lowe and MacT have no buisness controlling an nhl franchise. This isn’t news.

But the facts of the matter are the owner of the team was raised in seclusion with posters of a stay at home D-man and a journeyman center that never wore a helmet, hanging from the walls of his childhood bedroom. Unfortunately for oiler fans, that secluded little boy received enough wealth from mommy and daddy to actually purchase the team and anything else that stood in his way.

Long story short, those who actually give a sh!t anymore are left to suffer while an ex depth journeyman center who played without a helmet during a more physical period of the NHL and undoubtedly suffered countless concussions, gets to play around with an NHL roster while his good friend who has never accomplished anything of note in a management position, sits back and insults the fans of the team.

There is absolutely no reason to be an oiler fan.

  • Here’s an idea… How about everyone who’s reading this right now take a deep breath, try to remember a time in your childhood when you enjoyed hockey!! Think of your favorite hockey memory, and go follow a new team so you can enjoy hockey again!

  • Awesome, everytime I get too involved in an oilers management hate post, my writings keep bouncing back and won’t go through.

I have been able to post every single other item, but when I get deep on the management hate, I can’t get it through. I copy and paste over and over, but the same type posts can’t go through.

    • KSC10032

So now there’s conspiracy involving this site being in cahoots with the evil Oilers empire?

Perhaps its an issue of your histrionics crossing the boundary between mere silliness and actual libel? Or merely the parameters of good taste?

Grow up. The world is not out to get you for the very simple reason that you are not worth that much effort.

  • cmandev77

The Smid deal is starting to hurt a lot less now. Horak and Brossoit seem to be really good prospects and I am looking forward to Brossoit getting a few NHL games to see where he is.

Lowetide how about a quick summary of the top 10 rated prospects each week for this upcoming draft. ?It would be nice to follow how well they are doing because one of them will be coming to Edmonton. I know I could easily do it myself but that requires work LOL.

  • 2004Z06

For the love of god Lowetide no, please do not go into any detail on the Bakersfield Condors. It is hard enough to read these pieces attempting to glamourize the Barons of OKC. Our farm clubs top players are all AHL lifer’s who have no destination other than down. The cupboards are pretty bare right now and it’s not a welcoming sign. For a team that has had as many draft picks at the top of each and every round we haven’t been able to pull a single rabbit out of the hat. I’m sorry but Curtis Hamilton is a bust and reading about his shot at a few NHL games with an awful club isn’t thrilling news. I would rather see you follow the few legitimate prospects we have throughout the world and give us detailed updates on them.
