We did it! I can’t believe the Oilers won the lottery! McDavid is coming to Edmonton!… probably.

More to come.

Unreal OIler nation! Man oh man, Lowe and MacT do not deserve this though. I can’t help but feel they will ruin this incredible lottery pick somehow. For oiler fans everywhere, please oh please hockey gods don’t let the old boys club screw this up!

Oilers could walk away with McDavid and Provorov.

    K_mart @ 9:15 this morning.

You’re more than half way there Special K! Trade up on that Pens pick and Provorov could find himself here as well.

Others mocked you but I was pulling for ya. Well played sir.

Let’s not look at this one from a gossip girl perspective. Proper context may be within the Buffalo fans’ massive purchases of McDavid jerseys and the like. Remember, McD played there one night and they welcomed him with open arms and wallets? They were into him, and knew they had the inside track. It isn’t terribly fair to be used as a knock against Eichel in any way.

Buffalo GM was a crying kid! Jesus! He took a risk trading half his team away and lost. Tough pal, no one was guaranteed 1st pick.

Buffalo still gets mcdavid, edmonton will probably pick Tchachev anyways.

  • Jordan McNugent-Hallkins

congrats. You get to ruin another prospect, and have your team still be bad enough to win the lottery next year. Too bad players that actually have a choice where they want to play will still never go to Edmonton.

Enough cheering, 4 times in what 6 years really something you want to be proud of?

Well at least you have Ference to keep cheering about.

Oilers games are going to be so much more fun to watch.

National audience tuning in every night, tons of games on the second half of cbc saturday nights.

The team now has a chance at a premier coach.

The team now has a chance at bringing in free agents.

The core is going to be rejuvenated.

The team will no longer have an excuse to lose.

Losing will now be considered unacceptable, by media, fans and the hockey world.

All of this great future you see in front of you is based on a new coach. Which is based on a new management.

As far as I know, MacT and Lowe are still employed by Katz.

“That’s a great hockey town. They love their hockey. Obviously they’ve been on a bit of a slide the last couple of years. That’s allowed them to get some unbelievably amazing players that play there now. They’re just kind of a young team now, I guess. I’m not quite sure what’s going on (moving forward). That would be an awesome place as well.”

McDavid on the Oilers before the draft lottery.

With the Oilers not likely to make the playoffs next season. Could you imagine the backlash if the Oilers again won one of those top 3 selections next year?

  • vetinari

Centre with Nuge, Draisatl, McDavid and Lander may become a strength for this team. Management, go get us a starting goalie and a couple of defence men and don’t blow Rebuild 3.0, okay?

  • Ever the Optimist

Listening to TSN and the usual Edmonton put-downs. Not from Bob Mackenzie though, who is all class. I think once MacDavid sees the new rink and comes to E-town he will feel happier.

MacT CANNOT f*ck this up – please dear god, don’t let MacT screw this up.

If the Oilers can use the Pittsburgh first round pick in a trade to get a real goalie, get a proven coach like Todd Mclellan (with Nelson as assistant), plus trade Ebs or Hall to get a real top pairing defencenman, then this sh*tshow might start smelling better. Then when Nurse and Kleff get some experience, and with LB coming up in net, they might be a force in the future.

Holy sh*t I am happy, because this changes everything. The Oilers have a real shot at winning a cup in 5 years. Unbelievable.

It’s going to be a dream come true and it’s a great situation to be in,” McDavid said. “[Edmonton has had] fan support even through a little bit of a tough slide they have gone through for a few years. The fan support they still receive is amazing, and the group of guys they have there is pretty special. If it happens to be me that is selected there, it would be a tremendous honor to step in with a group of talent like that.”

Just missing an experienced coach to speed up the process.
But saying that, unless they have a “cock” in their name (meaning
Hitchcock or Babcock) I’d leave Nelson as coach.

Now MacT , get to work and get us a top defence who can mentor
and clock big minutes, preferably from teams that need to dump
Salaries and who have won the Stanley.

MacT; your work has just begun. Trade all the picks that you have, and
Trade or buy out whoever does not fit into the long term plans.
