Oilers trade Martin Marincin, then acquire Eric Gryba

When the Oilers acquired Griffin Reinhart yesterday, (which was a terrible trade by the way) I felt it meant the end of Martin Marincin in Edmonton and today the Oilers traded him to Toronto for pesky forward Brad Ross and the 107th pick. Admittedly, I wasn’t as high on Marincin as some others.

The Edmonton Oilers finally got their man. Back in 2012, the rumors had the club split among three players at the top of that year’s draft: Nail Yakupov, who they chose; Ryan Murray, who Scott Howson chose for the Blue Jackets and Reinhart, whose toughness and size have extreme value for the Oilers organization. It’s too early to write off Griffin Reinhart

The Edmonton Oilers made a controversial move on Friday, trading the No. 16 and No. 33 picks in the 2015 Draft to the New York Islanders in exchange for yet another former Oil King, defenceman Griffin Reinhart. There are a lot of reasons to dislike the trade, and we’ll get to those, but it’s important…

Edmonton Oilers name two assistant coaches

When the Edmonton Oilers hired Todd McLellan, there was the immediate question of what kind of staff he was going to put together. As it happens, it’s pretty much exactly the same sort of staff as he had at his last NHL stop.

PHWA voting, schedule, goalies and more…

The NHL awards were handed out last night and there were no major surprise winners. We can always have healthy debates over winners, but I felt all of them were deserving. I have no issue with any of the winners, but as a member of the Professional Hockey Writers Association I was a little concerned…

Ringing Off The Hook

View image | gettyimages.com This is such an exciting time for Oilers fans and such a busy one for NHL General Managers. We are one day away from the Edmonton Oilers adding a generational player to their roster and as of today NHL clubs are allowed to begin courting free agents.
