The advertisements need to stop. The ice looks like crap, the boards look like crap, and now the league wants to screw up the jerseys? I already don’t watch the MLS because I can’t stand rooting for the New England United Healthcare. Now the NHL wants to make a mockery of itself.

  • Burnward

Liked the Ruutu – Tucker fight, thanks.

It’s one of those fights you wish would never end so you can just watch both guys get hit in the face over and over and over…

  • Toofun

Once again in looking through the round up articles I found myself reading something over at Oilersnation.

How does a line of Hall, McDavid and Yak sound?
Honestly, to me it sounds pretty damn good! I found myself comparing this to Gaudreau, Monahan, Hudler and thinking that Edmonton may actually have the edge in pure firepower here.

Then I turned it around a bit and thought “Would I rather have our line against their defense or their line against ours”? Suddenly the comparison boarders on being unfair.

The Flames lineup is looking pretty solid these days.

      • Toofun

Go ahead and redo the exercise comparing Edm top line with Calgary Bennet, Backlund, Frolick line and it’s the same answer. Not a bad fight head to head but when you add in the defenses it’s not even close again…

        • CMG30

You can’t leave your top defensive players on the ice for 60 minutes. Pick a line to match your top defensive players against. The others will feast on you.

You’re dramatically overestimating the abilities of your top two lines. If they were were plunked straight across into the Oilers roster they would be in a real dogfight to just make Edmonton’s third line.

          • Toofun

Wow. I thought we were having an intelligent conversation until just now.

I’m not going to troll so I’ll sign off by saying that I like both team’s top 6 forwards but I’ll take Calgary’s top 4 d-men over Edmonton’s.

Good luck this year, whatever happens it will be fun to watch.

          • Toofun

Kindly clarify your last comment. Might be misinterpreting your wods, but are you saying with a straight face that if Monahan, Hudler, Gaudreau, Frolik, Bennett and Backlund were suddenly made available to the Oilers, they would be in a “dogfight to make Edmonton’s third line”?

          • RedMan

            that is seriously funny…

What makes the oiler offense better? it must be draft position, because it isn’t scoring ability.

You do realize that the Flames outscored the Oilers by MILES last year, right? pretend that McDavid is a seasoned NHL’er that can carry the team and add in his points, and it still doesn’t add up to enough to catch the Flames for scoring.

          • RedMan

that’s the funny thing about Calgary’s defense… they have two elite level pairings… and also half a dozen guys fighting for the third pairing 5/6 positions any of which would be competing for Oilers 2nd pairing instantly, maybe even the first.
