With the Edmonton Oilers having dropped into the fourth slot at the NHL draft lottery, there’s been plenty of discussion about whether Oiler GM Peter Chiarelli will keep the pick, flip the pick and move down or trade the pick as part of a bigger package to acquire immediate help.

Playoffs are ruthless

I’ve long believed great players don’t need a Stanley Cup to be considered among the elite. Of course it helps, but you need to be on a great team to win the Cup. I’ll be very surprised if we see a team match the Blackhawks’ three Cups in six seasons during the next few decades….
