Tyler Pitlick Done for the Year

This morning, it was announced that Pitlick is done for the year with a torn ACL in his left knee. If Pitlick didn’t have bad luck he would have no luck at all.

FESTIVUS EVE QUESTION: WHO WON THAT CRAZY TRADE, AND WHY NOT?

Anton Slepyshev was a key player in a wild and crazy pair of deals made by Craig MacTavish on draft weekend, 2013. The trade (one second round pick for what would turn into five selections) has produced three young men who are trying to make their way as NHL players, with (possibly) more to come….

PACK MENTALITY

Embed from Getty Images When you’ve been the designated free space on the Bingo card for as long as the Edmonton Oilers have, you cannot expect to return to contention and respectability in one fell swoop. It’s more often an evolution rather than a revolution. It’s one step at a time.

It’s time to end the Lucic/McDavid experiment

We’re at the point now where I’m starting to wonder what Milan Lucic has to do before he gets bumped off Connor McDavid’s line. McDavid now has just a single even-strength assist over his last eight games, and has seen a revolving door at right wing. Yet on the port side, Lucic remains untouchable, even…

Developing Jesse Puljujarvi and Anton Slepyshev

Jesse Puljujarvi, 18, is the most significant prospect in the Edmonton Oilers’ system, a rookie pro with a bright NHL future. Anton Slepyshev, 22, is a step down the prospect ladder but combines size and skill and could well enjoy a major-league career. Taylor Beck and Anton Lander, both 25, seem to have settled in…
