WEEKEND UPDATE (APRIL 10, 2017)

Jujhar Khaira was recalled to the NHL today by the Edmonton Oilers, capping a week of moves and events. Ziyat Paigin finally made his North American debut this week and signed his entry-level deal today. The Oilers added another college goalie as well (Shane Starrett, Oilers release on both signings is here). Jordan Oesterle took a dangerous hit but all appears to be fine, while Ryan Hamilton took a hard hit yesterday but there is some good news there.. It has been an eventful week for Edmonton’s prospects.

good stuff ! i didn’t believe that Nagelvoort was going to be re-signed and he now likely isn’t. add him to the pile of bloody awful goalie picks that Stu MacGregor and his scouting staff chose. i think we are also likely to say goodbye to Evan Campbell, and possibly Bo Yakimov and Aiden Muir? i wonder if LW Joey LaLeggia could get a look in the playoffs?

    • aspin

We may not be signing Nagelvoort but it is much to early to say he will not amount to anything. He is tearing it up in the ECHL. Too early to write off Muir as well. He had a significant injury this year and was on track for a heck of a season before that injury.

not sure i agree on Nagelvoort. he hasn’t played much the last few seasons at the U of Michigan and wasn’t the main man either season. he likely did just have his contract given away to Shane Starrett but we’ll see. perhaps there is still hope for the guy though i don’t see it. and his ECHL accomplishments so far are pretty small. i’ll reserve any more judgement until i see him actually play a lot at the pro level and become the main man.
