The Edmonton Oilers jersey release… for real this time.

Tonight, the new Oilers jerseys dropped and I want to know whether you’re buying or selling.

Over the weekend, a picture of the new Oilers jerseys was leaked by a sports blog and it set the Internet ablaze. When I posted those leaked pictures here on Saturday morning we weren’t really sure whether what we were looking at was our new threads or just fake news. Were those prototypes? Were they just fakes? What was the deal with that thick, white collar? We really didn’t have much to go on apart from the teasers that Adidas has put out over the past couple weeks, but that all changed tonight with the official release.

While the new jersey is similar to the one that leaked over the weekend, I was happy to see that the Oilers bailed on that wide white collar that was laughing stock of social media and went with something thinner and more subtle. That leaked jersey looked like something you’d order from $12 from a Craigslist ad. Even though there’s still a sliver of the white collar showing it’s not nearly as wide and grotesque as the leaked pictures had shown. I’m not sure what I think about the thin striping around the arms, and it’s going to take me a while to get over losing the blue and orange beauties, but I think this jersey¬†could grow on me.

Now that you’ve seen the real, official jerseys that the Oilers are rolling with I want to know what you think. The prototype/fakies that I posted on Saturday didn’t get much love around these parts and I’m curious to know what you guys think of this new version. What say you, Nation?

The new jerseys are sick. The collar on our last jersey looks pretty lame now that I’ve seen these. The dark blue makes us look meaner and while the orange keeps that old school feel.

We also ditched the reebok edge stripes and went back to our roots with the 3 stripes.

I’m sure this will be an unpopular opinion because people here don’t like change here but i think these are way better.

It’s too bad they feel the need to change things up. We had to endure the horrible RBK dark blues for a long time (those can’t even sell on clearance). They finally had it right last year and the year before. They should have stuck with the traditional Oilers colours and experimented with new jerseys via the Third Jersey. I have no idea why there is never any fan feedback on this sort of thing. Forget the whole new identity thing as well, that’s a cop out. As someone said earlier, the best teams keep them the same, that’s the way it should be. I hope they fix it next year. Royal Blue at home, White on the Road, and Orange third. No more dark blue, white letters, etc. Keep the Oilers the Oilers, we like them already. The new ones aren’t horrible, would be a good 4th jersey, but not the main jersey. I won’t be buying anything with these colours, I’ll wait to they go back to the royal blue. I guess the best thing that comes out of this is that I get all the Oilers merch that I like (Royal Blue) at a nice discount, not that they will be on clearance.

Yuck. The 2016-17 orange ones were ok… as a third jersey… but as a replacement for the classic blue? Absolutely not. The blue jersey is one of the classiest looking jerseys in the league. I am so, so sad. I am only going to watch away games. Pssst, Oilers, want Connor to sign? He likes blue.

I really disliked these when they were released. I’ve been in Edmonton for six years now and have grown to love the Oilers by looking at their rich history and extremely bright future.

But the more I see this jersey the more I’ve grow to absolutely love it. They’ve taken elements from past sweaters and merged them with some new colours.

I’ll be buying one for sure. Hell, I’ll probably buy an away jersey. Speaking of which, anyone know when those will be released?
