The Capilano Rehab Injury Report – Andrej Sekera Update

If you just came out from your rock today I’ll be the first one to tell you that Andrej Sekera is still out of the lineup from his knee injury that happened in the playoffs last season. Sekera has been skating on his own. When Reggie returns (in 2018) he’s going to be in for a big surprise when Todd McLellan puts him on Connor’s wing out of desperation. Anyways, back to my update.

Now I don’t really have an update for you specifically about Andrej Sekera’s ACL injury, however I DO have an update on what he wore for Halloween this year. Reggie rocked the disco suit with his wife and for the first time in years, felt the soft touch of hair on his head.

Adam Larsson was not on the ice for practice this morning which is always going to stir up some talk. Is he injured? Is he being traded? Is he taking a personal day? Has he watched Stranger Things 2? We can probably cross off an injury from the list as he was spotted moonlighting as a blackjack dealer last night. I always had a suspicion he was part of some kind of underground gambling club. We can also probably cross off a trade from the list as that’s also just dumb.

Man, doesn’t Adam Larsson have beautiful hair? ^^^

Opponents this week

  • The Oilers play the Pittsburgh Penguins again tomorrow and lucky for us they’re a little more beat up this time around than last week. Matt Hunwick, whose injury didn’t seem to affect the result of last game, is still on the IR with a concussion. The only other difference is that two-time, Stanley Cup champion, Justin Schultz is not playing due to a concussion as well. This is terrible news for the Penguins and amazing news for the Oilers. We must take advantage of the opportunity as two of the Pens best defencemen are injured.

  • Taylor Hall & the New Jersey Devils return to Edmonton this coming Friday with a partially injured squad as well. Kyle Palmeri (foot), Andy Greene (personal), and Marcus Johansson (lower body) are all sidelined and considered day-to-day. Will this make an impact on the game? Probably not a large one. Johansson has already been skating so he could very well end up playing on Friday. The Devils are 8-2 right now and don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

  • On Sunday the Detroit Red Wings are in town trying to crawl above a .500 record. Johan Franzen has been on the IR for most of the season due to concussion-like symptoms and Danny DeKeyser is day-to-day with an ankle injury. The Wings have been brutal as of late so that only means that they’ll probably come out flying on Sunday night against the Oilers. Let’s all cross our fingers for a few more key (but non serious) injuries this week to make our Sunday game as easy as possible.
