Patrick Maroon not on ice for morning practice

NHL trade deadline is looming. Everyone knows that Patrick Maroon, an impending unrestricted free agent, is on TSN and Sportsnet’s top 10 possible rental options list. The reality of the Oilers without the services of Patrick Maroon could be sooner rather than later.

As per a tweet from Stauffer:

Jim Matheson did follow up by saying it was merely a maintenance day. Nothing to see here folks.

That fact aside, what do you think of that left wing depth? Having to move over Pool Party to his off wing? How do you feel about seeing perhaps a Ty Rattie for the final 20 games of the season.

You seem fun. It’s not a story, it’s a blurb on a fan blog – giving a forum for us fans to chew on the lack of left wing depth once the nearly certain trade of Pat Maroon happens.

  • Connor McFly

They better let Maroon get a lengthy head start when he is traded. He moves so slow on the ice it may take him a couple of days to walk from the dressing room to his car.

Get him outta here already, tired of this sloth. We already have Lucic here @6 mil? per, we don’t need another slow goon, we need more speed and someone that can actually finish those Mcjesus passes and can play some defence. Sry oiler fans but we don’t need him .

      • jultz=2cups!??

Classic oilersnation. A tough year and you guys turn on your “favorite” teams players. I’ll bet you weren’t calling him a sloth last year. Man you guys are sickening. Fairweather fans on your best day. ??

??? “We heard it here first?” Wow, you think alot of yourself, don’t you?
I pretty much think anyone that follows hockey would think that…
A few tweaks & this team will be golden….
I don’t think we need you to tell us that? But, whatever floats your boat? If it makes you feel like an advisor, go for it…

        • jultz=2cups!??

Lol. I was responding to the guy that’s saying another dod is on the horizon. And for the record I haven’t heard anything different from oilersnation. It’s all doom and gloom. As usual I don’t agree with you guys. Especially the ones that want to fire everybody from bobby nick on down.

Earlier in the season, I thought we might see Benson, Yamamoto, or Hebig see some AHL and maybe even a couple NHL games, but it looks like they’re all making the playoffs. So they’ll see at least one round of playoffs putting them at around April 1st for the earliest call-up. So only 1 weeks left in regular season, but still a chance for a cup of coffee (Oilers season ends April 7). Bakersfield isn’t making the playoffs either so their season is done April 14. Sigh.

I think keeping Yamamoto in for his 9 games set the tone for the bad season…
If the team had no intention of playing him, why waste a spot on a developing player that would have been closer to actually being with the club, long term? The rest of the team sure noticed. kind of like: “What’s he doing here. On the first line even?” What am I doing wrong? I think it was a bad move to start the season anyway. I have no issues with bringing up players after you have established a season however…

  • Yes he is a slower player, but he is also a good possession player that gets it out of their own end more than not and has decent hands around the net as well as good board work. If he wants a lot of money then he isn’t worth it, but if is asking in line with his type of player than I’d keep him. This GM seems to think the trend is to replace players that can score with those that score less. Lucic can’t seem to complete a pass as often as he should at 6 million.

OFF-TOPIC: I just want to go on record by saying that if the NHL ever goes to a shoot-out to decide a Stanley Cup?????
I’m not sure what I would do? Any new fan (which the NHL is targeting) won’t know the difference, and Bettman & the Boys I don’t think could care less?
Not out of the question, when a possible new network TV deal will ask if the NHL can guarantee schedule times…
RANT OVER,… but really, might as well just flip a coin?
