NHL Draft: Rounds four through seven recap

The rest of the draft day went by rather rapidly as it normally does. The biggest moment of Day Two was likely the trade between the Hurricanes and Flames. Here’s how the deal broke down:

To CGY:
Noah Hanifin (un-signed RFA)
Elias Lindholm (un-signed RFA)
To CAR:
Dougie Hamilton
Micheal Ferland
College Prospect Adam Fox

That sent the twittersphere into a torrent of trying to decide who won this one. There was also rumblings of a pending Max Pacioretty deal with San Jose for the Canadiens. Those turned out to be false, for now. That trade stuff aside, here is the break down of the final rounds of the 2018 draft with links to all of the network players and their home sites writing about them.

Is there any players here you wish your team had grabbed? Let me know below.

Why would anybody want their son to come and play for the team they work for? Stupidity runs deep in this organization. We gave up 2 draft picks for a goalie. Better hope he turns out. Drafting a goalie usually never works out. Another def and a forward might be a good idea.

I just think that it is such a long shot. This club is in no position to gamble anymore. Make the smart move . When we are sitting better then take a gamble, it’s what I am thinking.

a late 2nd round pick is a longshot anyway. Sure there were probably some players still on the board that have a better chance of become an NHL player but were there any that project as a top4 D or top6 forward? The Oilers have been in need of a top end goalie for years. I like Talbot and think he will have a bounce back year but even then he is a middle of the road starter when he is playing well. He is also turning 31. Our backup is 30. We really only have Skinner in the organization that projects as a possible NHL starter. This is a team need now and in the future. He might not work out but I like the idea of having 2 players with a shot of being the goalie of the future and using a late 2nd to get the drafts best goalie seems like a good risk to me.
