Connor McDavid wants to score MORE goals next season

Chris Johnston tweeted a Connor McDavid quote this morning that has Oiler fans across the Internet fired up. An NHL player telling the media that he wants to score more goals in the NHL is a pretty common thing to say. But for Connor McDavid saying this, a guy who just scored 41 goals this past season, is incredible.

The best thing about Connor McDavid is that literally no one knows how good he can actually get. He’s already shocked the entire world with his skill in the first three years of his NHL career. I mean, you don’t think a guy can get much better than 41 goals per season in todays NHL, but Connor has broken so many barriers in his life so far, the possibilities are endless. Would you bet that Connor will be in the running to top Alex Ovechkin for the Rocket Richard trophy this season? I sure would.

McDavid claiming that he’s been prioritizing his goal scoring also shows his willingness to dominate the league and win games. Honestly, if the kid just maintained his skill and put in minimal effort for the rest of his career he would still be one of the top players for a decade. The fact that he continues to strive for excellence is inspiring and exhilarating for an Oiler fan to hear.

So let’s hear it, how many goals do you honestly see Connor scoring next season? Me? I say 53.

I said it on another article, if Connor decides he’s going to score 50, he’ll score 50. Then the year after that his goal should be 50 in 50, because why not?

McDavid is entering the first year of his $12.5 million dollar deal. He’s a proud guy and will want to show the world he deserves it. Not that he didn’t in his entry level deal, but I think we’re going to watch this guy destroy everyone this year. He’s pissed about last year and not making the playoffs, and now enters the first year of his new deal, I think this year will be Connor’s career milestone stats wise. I feel Connor will win a Richard, and probably this year, Ovie is still getting lit and I wouldn’t be surprised if his training was subpar this summer. Toronto fans are going to lose their shat when Connor cleans up the award show this year. So glad McDavid doesn’t play for the Leafs, I’d have to stop watching hockey, because they already make me sick out there.

I’m right with you, McDavid cleaning the trophy house would give me something special to taunt my Leafs loving wife with. The Leafs religion makes me wanna cack.
