Oilers Prospect Update: Bear and Ostap Return

Some transactions this week making waves. Another great week for Hawkey in the NCAA. Big returns from injury with both Bear and Safin hitting the ice again.

Bouchard back to the OHL – The big news for the Oilers this week is that Bouchard is back down to London with the powerhouse squad they have there.

Puljujarvi in the AHL? – The week has been full of multiple people begging for a send down of JP to get him more ice time in Bakersfield.

Marody sent down – Rattie finally returned to the lineup and after sitting in the press box for a week or so, Marody is back to the farm.

Watching the Condors game now and a few things of note:

    – Currie still centering Benson and Hebig as Marody isn’t ready (didn’t play last night either)
    – Jones was the PP1 d-man, as he has been all year, but Logan Day, not Ethan Bear, was the PP2 d-man on the 1st PP (and just scored as a PP goal) –

Bouchard played his first game this afternoon – scored 6 minutes in – carried the puck up the ice from behind his own net, dished off to a winger near the opposition blue line and finished off with a tip goal off a cross-ice pass to the net.

He finished with the 1 goal and plus 3 (with 7 shots) in a 3-0 Knights win.

Safin was held off the score-sheet this afternoon in a 3-2 OTL, McLeod had an assist in a 5-2 win and Rodrigue stopped 13 of 15 in a 6-2 win this aft.

I’d personally like to see both JP and Yamo sent down. Not sure who I’d recall but my list of recalls would be:

    Joe Gambardella
    Patrick Russell
    Cameron Hebig
    Cooper Marody
    Caleb Jones
    Ethan Bear

I think the first three can add the most to this team right now while others will have a higher ceiling but need to develop a little more.

These updates are a lot more fun to read now that one doesn’t have to squint real hard or put on rose color glasses to see legit prospects. Cudos to K. Gretzky and the guy who hired him.
