Providence lost the rubber match to Boston College yesterday finishing up their season and Hayden Hawkey’s college career – I’m looking for him to sign with the Oilers in the coming days/weeks.

I’m not positive those AHL numbers are right (for example, Yamamoto didn’t play this past week) – I’ll give Dan a break given this was posted from 1am from Vegas.

Anyways, a 7-0 win with the forward depth so depleted is a testament to the top line and the depth of this Condors’ team and Jay W’s staff. Yammaoto was out (should be back next week) as was P. Russell (he’ll be out a bit longer) and Currie, Malone and Joe G were all up in the NHL). Logan Day moved up to play the wing and they still won 7-0.

    Unreal this team.

Bouchard finishes the season with the second highest point total ever for a London Knight’s d-man. He should have a solid year in the AHL working on his game away from the puck.

  • OriginalPouzar

OHL playoffs start later this week. Each of London (Bouchard), Guelph (Samorukov), Saginaw (McLeod) and Niagara (Maksimov) are on powerhouse teams that are favored in the first round.

I’m a bit torn on if I want these teams to go far to give the guys playoff success or if I want them eliminated so they can join the Condors.

I’m not sure what is best for their development or if they would even get in to the Condors lineup (in particular the d-men, its already so crowded).

seeing how the simpsons confirmed last night that Calgary is indeed Shelbyville, here is a list of the Springfield tire fire

    Braden Christoffer
    Keegan Lowe
    Colin Larkin
    Nolan Vesey
    Markus Niemelainen
    Joey Dudek
    Skyler Brind’Amour
    Matthew Cairns

What a waste of picks and contracts.

    • OriginalPouzar

Do you posit that the AHL affiliate of any other NHL team isn’t full of players like this that aren’t “real prospects”? I’m quite certain that that type of list is indicative of most franchises and would posit that having the following 7 players being legit NHL prospects, its quite good:

      Benson, Marody, Yamamoto, Joe G.
      Lagesson, Jones, Bear

The following legit NHL prospects will be added next year as well

      Samorukov, Bouchard
      Maksimov, McLeod, Safin

the problem is they arent drafting or have not had a historical good drafting in the 2nd to 4th rounds. So instead of drooling over neimelainen size, picking Carins a BCHL kid without a history of offence, or drafting Brindamour or picking up lowe because of his name, draft skill. Vessey and Larkin were signed because of their brothers, and have never shown the ability to produce offence at any competitive level. And they still arent in the ECHL. Horrible horrible bets. Play the odds, draft and sign skilled players, you will hit more than taking a flyer on size or utility.

        • OriginalPouzar

I don’t disagree with any of that, however, there was a clear organizational switch to start focussing on skill at the draft when Chiarelli and Gretzky took over the drafting. Further, these guys are being developed properly and the following all have great up arrows:

          Maksimov – 5th round
          Samorukov – 3rd round
          Jones – 4th round
          Bear – 5th round
Lagesson – 4th round (I think he was a MacT pick though)
