Real Life Podcast Episode 114: Nicholson, #KeepNugeForever, and Viva Las Vegas

Welcome, welcome, welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to another edition of the Real Life Podcast! As always, the boys are back with another 60 minutes of ear-filling wisdom that you won’t want to miss. This week, we’re talking more Bob Nicholson, trying to figure out where the Ryan Nugent-Hopkins trade rumours are coming from, and recap the amazing #NationVacation to Las Vegas that happened a little bit earlier in the month.

It was a different flavour for the Real Life podcast this week as Baggedmilk and the Squire flew solo with Wanye wrapped up in some business calls and Chalmers in the middle of a family vacation. Despite the lineup temporary lineup change, the show must go on so the boys dove into the latest happenings with the Edmonton Oilers, including the fallout from Bob Nicholson’s comments regarding Tobias Rieder, Ken Hitchcock’s mysterious three-year deal, and the strange trade rumours surrounding Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. With the angering business out of the way, the boys wanted to pivot to something a little bit more fun, so they went through the ins and outs of the #NationVacation to Las Vegas and how the whole trip came about in the first place. With that in mind, the Squire and Producer Jared walked us through the process from concept to completion on the Vegas road trip, what can be improved, and what to expect from the next time the Nation does something like this. Needless to say, the boys had such an amazing time with all of the Nation citizens that came with us and the ones they met down in LV that it seems like a no-brainer that a trip like this needs to happen again. All-in-all, it was another jam-packed episode that you’re going to want to sink into your earholes.

Holy, career year, longest serving Oiler and still the center of every single trade rumor. What would it take for the most underrated center in the NHL not to be the center of trade talk? Maybe everybody wants him and thinks they can get him for nothing, maybe that’s it.

Tell me, who would make it worth dismantling our center depth to make that trade then? Better be one hellova D-man because I honestly can’t see any trade that makes sense. It pretty much makes us the Preds is what it does. All D, all day and that’s not the Oiler way.

It took us years of drafting to have that center depth so it better be 1A D that’s all I can say. All I want to know is who make that trade worthwhile then? I’m not seeing it, maybe I’m blind, but give me a scenario that makes me go hmm ok, ya ok maybe that does make sense for the Oilers. Ya maybe, ok, because it makes no sense to me.
