Hello, hello, hello. Welcome back to part two of my series Oilers In Seven where we take a look at the Oilers in, well, seven-game sets.
Hands up everybody who expected Mike Smith to be a good as he has been through his first nine appearances with the Edmonton Oilers when GM Ken Holland signed him last summer. Not me, and probably not you, judging by many of the takes I read in the comments section back then.
While the first month of Edmonton’s season has been fantastic, there’s no doubt that the team is going to need a little bit of help in order to earn a playoff spot in the competitive Pacific Division.
We’re a month deep into the 2019-20 season and we now have a pretty clear idea of which teams are good and which teams aren’t. There’s still plenty of hockey left to be played, but let’s size up the competition in what seems to be a very challenging Pacific Division.
