When it comes to the sport of hockey, Connor McDavid is a gun in a knife fight and the goal he scored tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs was yet another example of how this is Connor’s world and we’re all just living in it. And the fact that it happened against the Leafs? *chef’s kiss*
As an Edmonton Oilers fan, I think it’s important that we periodically take a minute to remember how lucky we are that we get the opportunity to watch Connor McDavid on a nightly basis, and after the goal he scored against the Leafs in tonight’s 4-3 OT win, I felt like we could all use another moment of reflection. With the positive vibes freshly flowing, we should remember to thank the Hockey Gords for the gifts that they’ve given us, specifically our captain and highlight factory that entertains us with his wizardry on a nightly basis. We must remember these days, friends.
Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.
Okay, so I stole that from daytime TV but you get my point. I don’t know how many more ‘goal of the year’ candidates McDavid will whip up for us in his career — I know there’s going to be a bunch and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with— but this was another one where I literally laughed out loud when I saw the replay. I mean, the goal he scored tonight was one of the most ridiculous coast-to-coast goals that I’ve ever seen and I felt like we should all reward ourselves with a few more viewings of Connor McDavid’s brilliance. You and I both know that you want to.
Watch it over and over again:
Does anyone else feel an extra layer of satisfaction when Connor McDavid goes supernova against the Toronto Maple Leafs? There’s something about knowing that we’ll be watching this highlight all year long that makes my heart dance, and the fact that Leafs fans will have to suffer when it’s played is a cherry on the sundae. I think it’s the way Leafs fans are still so preoccupied with McDavid not being a part of their team that cranks up the hilarity factor on a night like this one. Either way, I hope this is a goal that you won’t soon tire of watching because it’s going to be on NHL highlight reels for the rest of the season and beyond.
