Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl named to All-Star game

Big surprise.

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been named to the 2022 NHL All-Star game.

Both are currently tied in the league lead in scoring, with a modest 53 points in… *checks notes* … 33 and 34 games, respectively.

For McDavid, who was also named captain for the Pacific Division, it’s his 5th appearance at the game. He’s been on a tear once again this season scoring the second-most assists and is tied for seventh in league scoring.

For Draisaitl, meanwhile, it’s just his third. This year, however, he is leading the league in goal scoring potting 26 tallies to date.

The pair will have a familiar face this year, as ex-Oilers teammate Jordan Eberle was also named to the game. Being heavily relied upon as an offensive driver for the Seattle Kraken, Eberle has scored 12 goals and as many assists in 33 games this year.

There’s one more Oilers player who could make the all-star game: Darnell Nurse. He’s one of eight players up for the Last Men in vote, something done by the fans.
