Season Launch Party Update

Last week, we launched tickets for our Season Launch Party that will be taking place next Saturday at the Pint Downtown. Considering the events that took place in Edmonton over the weekend, we wanted to amend the plans a little bit while also letting you know that the show will go on.

Before I get started on the changes, I wanted to say definitively that ‘yes’ we are still throwing our event on Saturday night. We’re not going to let the actions of a lunatic change the way we live our lives or change the fact that we want to throw a party and raise money for charity. We’re not going to bow out in fear, and we’re going to use the platform we have to try and make a difference. Being a part of the community is something that this website was built on and we’re not going to let anyone change that.

While the headlines will fade, the long-term effects certainly will not. With that in mind, we felt an overwhelming need to do something – anything – to help the victims, and that’s why we’ve changed the charity component for Saturday night’s party from having net proceeds going to Little Warriors to the victims of this senseless tragedy. We want to thank Little Warriors for understanding why we’re making this change and we promise to work with them very soon. To their credit, we weren’t even able to finish our sentence before they told us to do it.

In the end, I’m not here to tell the story of what happened or caused Saturday night’s attack. More talented people can do that much better than I ever could. I don’t have the words or the ability to accurately portray how brave our first responders are or how devastating that night could have turned out to be. Instead, I’m here to use the platform that I have to try and make a difference to those left behind in this senseless tragedy.

If you can’t purchase attend the event, or aren’t in a position to buy a ticket, we ask that you still share the link to this story. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for the victims of Saturday night’s attack and every click and share of this article helps us move towards that goal. Thank you for taking the time to read and share this article. Take care of each other.

Tickets are on sale now for $30 and will remain on sale straight through until the date of the party, or until they sell out — whichever happens first. Your ticket will also enter you into all of the draws for NationGear prizes and the jersey giveaways that will happen throughout the night.

Bless you all Oilersnation!! You should be very proud of yourselves. Have a great party!! Wish I was in Edmonton I would be there for sure. Is there a way for us out of towners to get some support into your hands?

  • I am Batman

I don’t think the missus will want to attend and therefore i won’t since I owe her night date (im going to the game on Wednesday)… however, I will still buy tickets .

        Unbelievable. Batman says that:
        1. He wants to spend time with his wife, and
        2. He is STILL going to buy tickets, thereby donating money to victims of a terror attack,
and all you can do is personally insult the guy? WTF man?

Shames fan…. I used to say Canuck fans were the worst but the Shameful crowd from the saddledump wins all the awards.
Thanks for standing up for me guys, but i didn’t expect any better from this international a$$ hat.
Enjoy the partay and have a pint for me.

Knew Puljujarvi wasn’t going to make it. He went all offseason not learning how to speak English. Everyone says he is still young and needs time to develope. I disagree. THE coaches instructions are getting lost in translation. But I forgot this is Canada the most politically correct country on the planet. The Coach should’ve learned Finnish

Bah! Stupid phone… A quick question BM – when I went to get my tickets and I looked over the swag again, there was no mention of the perogies-for-a-year. Was that an ‘oops’ in the original article? Just curious – it’s a fantastic cause all by its lonesome! Hope to see some of you there!

You’re the king of the one trick ponies. You must think you’ve hit comedy gold with your little welfare comment. I hate to break it to you, but it wasn’t funny the first time. Also, not to be the grammar police, but it’s “their glory,” not “there glory.” I think the funny part is you predicting a beat down by the Flames after they were completely dismantled by the Oilers en route to A SWEEP last year. You do know it was a sweep, right? Right? Just checking.

      • Hockeyfan

I sure do coilman!!! The Flames have previous sweeps of the NHLwelfares at least twice at 6 and 8 games each i believe. Whatcha gonna do when mcwelfare gets put on LTIR for 3 months?

  • Nation Dan

Hey hockeyfan. I know you’re just begging for someone to pay attention to you, so I will. I can tell you without a doubt the pint doesn’t let in underage people.

Your posts here would put you at about oh I say… 12? 13? Shame about that.

If you have somehow did trick us into thinking you are anything less than sub human trash (that would shit on someone for donating their hard earn cash to a great cause) and aren’t. I’d love to have a word at the Pint with you on Saturday on how sports can be fun.

(Also once again because this (and indeed all of reality) seems to have flown over your head, this party is Saturday, but you know you seem to think it’s a game where the Oilers beat the Flames again or something.. that’s Wednesday)

Don’t worry I’ll keep it classy and respectful, I have no doubt your next infantile response will be as such.

Hey bagged milk. I got a neat idea, how about you guys at nation hq start keeping a “troll count” for “repeat offenders”. And when they reach the set amount of trolling comments, instead of warning or banning them, would it be possible to make them THINK that nothing has changed but in fact make it so their posts get “ghosted” for a month or something. So for everyone else, their comment just says: “(poster name) has been ghosted because he/she had trolled too much. (And funny remark) Shhh! Don’t tell them! It’s funnier this way!”
They will eventually get the hint when nobody acknowledges their comments at all (including trashes or cheers)

  • Tonto

Who cares about HOCKEYFAN, it’s probably some 12 year-old with nothing else better to do. I don’t know why people waste their time arguing with a kid who constantly repeats himself.
