Oilersnation Radio Episode 29 – Bobby Nicks causes a riot

Welcome, friends, to a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio, the podcast where we talk all things Edmonton Oilers. This week, we dive into the strange comments made by Bob Nicholson at yesterday’s season ticket holder event, recap the trip we took to Vegas, preview our trip to Calgary, and a whole lot more.

In the short history of Oilersnation Radio, I have never seen the boys this fired up for a recording. After Bob Nicholson decided to throw Tobias Rieder under the bus at yesterday’s season ticket holder meeting, the Nation was fired up and that definitely carried over into today’s podcast. Needless to say, the boys were passionate about their positions and it caused an argument to break out like we’ve never seen before. Lastly, we recap the incredible #NationVacation we had last weekend with some amazing Nation citizens and marvelled at the incredible community that surrounds this website. Without all of you, these trips would never even be possible so I can’t thank all of you enough for joining us and following along with all of the shenanigans on social media. I can’t wait until we do this again.

Listen to the episode below to hear all the action!

Thank you to Laur Elle for this week’s Intro/Outro song ‘Leave This Town’. You can check her out on Instagram or on her website.

I don’t defend Bob at all for this. It shows his lack of judgement and experience at the professional level of hockey. All they had to do was not sign him, there isn’t a stronger message. There is no doubt Katz needs to let him go to fix this alone. They need to replace him for hiring Chiarelli, who signed Lucic and traded for Reinhart.

Having said that, Reider has been decent on defence, but he was brought in to provide secondary scoring. I saw none of that.

The Oilers still have a very good core of young players and more on the way. They need a new manager to do his best to slowly fix this. Make no mistake about but it, this will take 3-4 years before we see a marked improvement. There will be no maricle, and patience will be required by the fans or we can kiss this franchise goodbye.

Absolutely, It’s the latest peek behind the curtain at the thought process that’s going on in the halls of power here that’s so disturbing to fans. Basically this is just another unforced error that exposes that these clowns have no clue how to run a NHL team and worse, they don’t even understand what the problems they have created are. How are we suppose to have faith that these guys can bring in the right GM when all evidence thus far is that they don’t understand the game and what it takes to win?
