Two Edmonton Oilers prospects were named to the 2020 World Juniors selection camp, Hockey Canada announced Monday.
F Raphael Lavoie and G Olivier Rodrigue will attend the camp in Oakville, Ont. from Dec. 9-12.
The roster was selected by head scout Brad McEwen, director of men’s national teams for Hockey Canada Shawn Bullock, and Mark Hunter, U20 lead for the program of excellence management group. Along the way, head coach Mark Hunter and assistant coached Mitch Love, AndrĂ© Tourigny, and Alan Letang.
Lavoie, a second-round pick of the Oilers in last June’s entry draft, returned for his fourth season in QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads.
This year, he’s scored 17 goals adding 24 assists for 41 points in 28 games played.
Rodrigue, a second-round pick in the 2018 draft, is in his fourth QMJHL season and his first with the Moncton Wildcats. There, he’s played in 19 games posting a 2.55 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
The World Juniors are set to kick off in the Czech Republic on Boxing Day when Canada squares off against the United States at 11 a.m. MST.
