When it comes to the Edmonton Oilers playoff run that’s set to kick off next week, we have yet to find out who Dave Tippett will be starting in net for game one. Will he go with the more experienced goaltender in Mike Smith or will he tap Mikko Koskinen who was the more consistent of the two netminders.
With more than four months gone by since either Smith or Koskinen has played a competitive hockey game, Dave Tippett will have an interesting decision to make when it comes to his goaltenders. While he’s said that he expects both players to play during the postseason we have yet to hear which direction he is leaning for August 1st. We broke down the numbers between Smith and Koskinen to try and get a better idea of who might get the call for the opener against the Chicago Blackhawks.
