A Family Day Photoshop Contest

There aren’t many things on this great green earth that I love more than Photoshop contests.  It’s been a while since we’ve had one, so I figured a long weekend would be the perfect time to launch another one. What will the theme be? Who will be the next hero to be immortalized for all time as a photoshop champion? I’m excited to find out.

When we decided that we were going to do another photoshop contest, for February, the obvious play would have been to do Valentine’s Day but that’s boring.  Not boring would be a picture of a bunch of Oilers in an awkward family photo where they’re all carrying rifles in onesies or something!  I’ve never understood why some parents make their kids/families pose in such awful ways that they will surely be embarrassed and damaged for decades to come.

For some reason (as if you didn’t know), awkward family photos remind me of our beloved Oilers.  As much as the Oilers are our favourite hockey squadron, they are endlessly embarrassing.  Just how embarrassing will be up to you.

A contest without a theme is like a family photo without your dad doing something embarrassing, and that’s what I’m looking for.  I picture photoshops coming in with Nuge, Hall, and Eberle all wearing the same matching sweater while sitting on a fake unicorn.  I’m picturing a collapsed family period featuring all the Oilers defencemen.  The possibilities are endless!

The theme of this month’s contest is an Oilers Family Picture. It’s as simple as that. 

The rules for the contest are simple…  You have to create an original photoshop that fits within the theme of an Awkward Oilers Family picture – everything else is up to you.  All we ask is that you try to make it as funny and as ridiculous as possible.  I mean, if you’re going to win a prize you’re going to have to earn it.  

The deadline to enter will be next Wednesday (February 18th) at 11:59pm.  Anything that comes in past that deadline will be disqualified unless it is so mind meltingly good that my bowels are literally evacuated just from the site of it. To submit your entry, you can email it to me at baggedmilk@oilersnation.com.

As always, we can’t have a contest without prizes and as usual I raided Wanye’s desk, the NationGear warehouse, and bothered sponsors until they were wiling to pay up.  I want to thank Print Machine, and Oodle Noodle for always stepping up when I ask, and for very rarely kicking me out.
