A pleasant distraction

While the Oilers continue their slide into despair, dropping a 3-1 decision to the regal ice-dancers of Los Angeles, not everything is looking quite so down in the dumps at OilersNation. We can at least turn our attention to the Beat the Heat campaign…

How are we doing?

The Oilers aren’t doing so great… But Edmontonians and Citizens of the Nation are coming through in fine style. Lynda Steele emailed me the other day to let me know exactly how well things are going so far:
"$1900 has been donated online so far… yay!! We’ve got several gift donations here at Global, and our 9 external locations are reporting drop offs as well.
"Things should pick up on Saturday; a local Mustang car club is coming by the station with a flatbed truck full of Christmas presents. Also Saturday, the clients at Spark Sport Conditioning are holding a one-day fitness fundraiser with a goal to raise $35,000 for Give Me Shelter."
And according to Trevor Belsher from Original Joe’s, Smid, Penner and Cogs have scored a total of 16 goals — which means we’ve raised another $1,600!
Even in the face of defeat and a crappy record, Oilers fans are pulling through.
If you aren’t too depressed to eat, then find your way to any Edmonton area Original Joe’s on Friday and order a burger. Any burger. Something with ground beef in it. One dollar from every burger purchased on Friday will be donated to the Give Me Shelter campaign.

Beating the Heat

I don’t know about you, but I’m still STILL! thinking we can beat San Jose on Friday. And you know why? Because Smid, Cogliano and Penner know that they’re playing against the guy they were on the chopping block for this summer. Hey, that’s the whole reason we’re doing the Beat the Heat campaign.
And in spite of the shitanusly™ bad performance of the Mighty Oil yesterday, I’m sure at least a FEW of you still want to go to a friday-night hockey game. And we want to send you to one.
Original Joe’s and Gregor’s Just A Game are auctioning off two tickets to the Friday game against the Sharks. Not only that, but you get a free meal at any OJ’s location AND a limo ride to and from the game, thanks to the people at Eternity Limousines.
The bidding starts today at 3pm on Just A Game, so make sure you tune your AM dial to the TEAM 1260 to get in on the action.
