AMA Travel Diaries: A Day to recover before getting back to work

After a miserable night on Friday with Edmonton’s loss in overtime, Jay, Tyler, and I decided that yesterday was going to be a day of rest and recovery. You might be thinking to yourself, “Baggedmilk, you didn’t play at all so what do you need to recover from?” The emotional hardship of playoff hockey, that’s what.
With rest and relaxation on our minds, we started our day with a little breakfast before making our way down to the par three course they have here at the Windrift Hotel and knocked the ball around for a couple of hours. Seeing as Jay and Tyler are actually solid golfers, I knew that I was going to be the disaster of the group (I was) but that didn’t stop us from having a good time anyway. The good news? I only lost one ball. Great success!
After getting a round of golf under our belts, we jumped in an Uber and made our way down to Manhattan Beach to get a little sun and let Tyler watch the waves. If you didn’t know, he’s a big fan of waves. As it turns out, the water wasn’t the most thrilling thing my man saw on the beach as a pod of dolphins swam past the pier while we were there, prompting Tyler to say that he was going to “shit himself” with excitement. If that’s not an adorable reaction to seeing wildlife then I don’t know what is.
Skin bronzed and a belly full of Rose, we got back to the hotel for a quick outfit change and then it was off to Angels Stadium to check out the Angels take on Royals. If you didn’t know, the three of us bought Shohei Ohtani jerseys last year and dubbed ourselves the Ohtani Boys so we were excited to be able to watch him play again. It’s not often you have a player that’s so successful at two different positions, making him a must-see situation for any sports fan.
Unfortunately, the big man went 0/5 on the night but we did get a bunch of home runs, including an absolute bomb by Mike Trout that sent the stadium into a frenzy. I’m not going to lie, their Pursuit if Happiness home run song had the three of us up and boppin’ a few times. Sadly for Angels fans, they ended up blowing a two-run lead in the ninth inning and couldn’t recover in their half of the inning. Despite the result, the three of us had a great night at the ballpark.
As for today, it’s all business. Jay and I just crushed a nice big breakfast, our jerseys are laid out, and Tyler is getting ready for Oilersnation Everyday. Needless to say, Sunday, April 23rd — which also happens to be Wanye’s birthday — is a massive one for our boys. Let’s get it.
If you want to book a vacation down to Cali, our friends at AMA Travel are ready to help you make it happen.
