Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started with a quick chat about Connor McDavid’s engagement that happened last week and how that’s going to impact the rest of his life. From my side of the computer screen, I couldn’t be happier for the guy after seeing him lock up his longtime girlfriend to a lifetime commitment that featured a massive engagement ring that was shaped, in my opinion, like an oil drop. From there, we looked at Erik Karlsson wanting out of San Jose and whether the Oilers would have any chance at landing the three time Norris winner. As much as I’d like to see it happen, the reality is that his contract and Edmonton’s cap situation makes it next to impossible, and I honestly don’t know which contenders will be able to find a way given what’s left on his deal. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s segment with a look at Taylor Hall getting traded to the Chicago Blackhawks and how I feel bad for the guy given that he just can’t seem to settle in any given location. Now 13 years into his NHL career, Hall will be playing for his sixth team and that has to sting after he signed a ticket in Boston that he probably assumed was going to keep him there for a while.
