Baggedmilk on #theLOCKERROOM: Connor McDavid’s summer, Sam Gagner PTO, and trading Evander Kane

Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started with a look at Connor McDavid’s summer, specifically how he’s been in the media a little bit more than normal. While it’s not at all unusual to see McDavid in the media, it seems like we’ve gotten more of him this summer and that a lot of it comes from him having a good time. From there, we looked at the Sam Gagner PTO rumours and how many of us would love to see him back in blue and orange for the good vibes and story. From a hockey standpoint, however, it is fair to wonder where Gagner would fit on this current roster and whether or not they’d even be able to sign him given the lack of cap space. Either way, seeing Sam Gagner tied to the Oilers again always makes my heart happy.
Speaking of cap space, Loc then asked me why a small segment of Oilers fans wants to trade Evander Kane as a means of clearing room under the cap. From my side of the computer screen, trading Kane makes absolutely no sense on any level and I truly do not understand where that idea came from. Yeah, the guy had a tough season in terms of production by his own standards but it kinda makes sense when you remember what he went through, right? Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s segment with a quick chat about Jeff Jackson and whether or not I think hiring Connor McDavid’s former agent was the right move for the Oilers. As you’ll hear, there are a lot of reasons to like this move that go far beyond having our captain sign an extension in a couple of years.
