The offseason rolls on for another week and a fresh Wednesday meant another chance for your boy to jump on the radio with the guys from The Locker Room to discuss all things hockey and life in general. This week, we looked back at how the Oilers have done in free agency so far along with a discussion about the Brendan Gallagher shenanigans that are kicking off in Montreal.
To start off this morning’s appearance, we jumped in with a look at the Brendan Gallagher situation that’s happening in Montreal and whether or not that could lead to him being traded. After locking in Josh Anderson and Tyler Toffoli to big-money deals, I have to admit that I was surprised to see that Bergevin is playing hardball with a guy that many had dubbed the team’s next captain. Back to the Oilers, we broke down Ken Holland’s work in free agency and I actually thought he did a decent job despite not having a whole lot of money to spend. Quite frankly, I liked the short-term, low-cost bets that Ken Holland made when looking to upgrade his top nine. I mean, the Mike Smith deal is still a little bit of a head-scratcher — I’ll readily admit I’m not a huge fan of this one — but I’m also hoping that the ol’ boy can come back into town and prove us all wrong. As always, it was another fun appearance with the boys and the perfect way to start your Wednesday.
