Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while offering my takes on anything else that’s happening in the world.
We started this week’s segment by chatting about Jack Campbell hitting the waiver wire yesterday and what it means for his future in Edmonton. Obviously, some Oilers fans tabled the idea of waiving Campbell after the Kings made a similar move with Cal Petersen a year ago, but I don’t know how many of us expected it actually to happen. Now that the card has been played, however, it’s fair to wonder what comes next, given that this move doesn’t really solve their issues. Replacing Campbell will be Calvin Pickard, who is off to a fantastic start to the season with the Bakersfield Condors. A bandaid solution to be sure, Pickard will come to town with a healthy dose of pressure that he’ll be able to stop pucks. But is that even fair for a guy who’s been a backup for his entire career? I guess we’ll see. Sticking with the goaltending, we also checked in on Dustin Schwartz and whether it’s fair or not that many fans have labelled the Oilers’ goaltending coach as the root of the problem. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s segment with a look at the #NationVacation to Arizona that just launched this morning and how this is an event that you will absolutely want to join us for.
