Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started with a look back at last night’s win over the Colorado Avalanche and how it was a huge one for the Oilers not only for the points in the standings but also for the emotional lift. Coming into that game at 1-4-4 in their last nine, the boys needed to know that they can beat Colorado ahead of potentially matching up against them down the line in the playoffs, and so I was pumped when Evan Bouchard closed things out in OT. What’s wild, though, is that the win didn’t really clarify anything that’s happening in the playoffs as Vegas Golden Knights beat Seattle in a lopsided affair to maintain their two-point gap over the Oilers. Yet, if Edmonton wins on Thursday and Vegas loses, there’s still a chance that the Oilers could leap up into first not only in the Pacific Division but also in the Western Conference, meaning there’s a lot left to play for even though the playoffs are wrapped up. Lastly, Loc wanted to tell me about the $100 bet he put down on the Leafs to lose to Tampa Bay in round one and how he’s having fun with that one as Toronto fans have clearly been hurt in that spot before. Personally, I think Toronto finally gets through this year, but it’s definitely not going to be easy.
