Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started with a look at last night’s game against the Detroit Red Wings and how it’s been fun to watch the Oilers play with some jam over the last handful of weeks. That’s not to say that fighting solves everything, but what I would absolutely suggest is that the Oilers are playing much more like a team right now that’s willing to defend themselves and each other. To me, that can only bode well for what’s coming in this stretch drive. From there, we looked back at the All-Star Game down in Florida and wondered what the NHL could do to make the event not so boring. From my side of the TV screen, I thought everything moved way too slowly and that’s something the league will need to figure out ahead of next year’s festivities in Toronto. Getting back to the Oilers, we looked at the three games left on this road trip — Philly, Ottawa, and Montreal — and specifically how this is a major opportunity for the Oilers to grab hold of the division. After looking down and out only a few short weeks ago, the Oilers have roared back into contention for the Pacific Division title and that means they need to keep locking in these wins against weaker teams. Finally, we wrapped up this week’s segment with another plea from myself to join us on the #NationVacation to Toronto that’s happening from March 10-12 thanks to our friends at AMA Travel.
