Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started with a look at the Oilers’ disastrous record at home and how it doesn’t make sense for the results to be so poor at Rogers Place when home ice was a major strength for the Oilers a year ago. It’s not just last night’s loss to the Kraken either, but rather a run of horrible games that could have been points in the standings. Needless to say, if the Oilers are going to make the playoffs then this is something the boys will need to figure out in a real hurry because you can’t be dropping winnable games at home this often. From there we looked at the Leon Draisaitl injury that kept him out of a pair of games last week, and how it could be a real problem if this ailment nags at the former MVP for any real length of time. Even though he played last night, it goes without saying that having Leon available and as healthy as possible is going to be a huge story down the stretch. Same goes for the eventual return of Evander Kane as the forward has resumed practicing with the team despite still being week-to-week before he actually gets back on the ice. Not only do the Oilers miss Kane’s goal-scoring, but his ability to bring toughness and swagger to the lineup is something that can’t return soon enough. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s segment with a look ahead at next week’s #NationVacation to Vegas and how we cannot wait to get back down there after a few years away.
