Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started with a look at the start of free agency and specifically what the Oilers got in Connor Brown after signing the winger to a one-year contract that carries a $775K AAV. Obviously, we all know about the bonuses associated with Brown’s contract — that $3.25 million is going to be a problem next year — but there’s little doubt he’s going to help this coming season. Unfortunately, bringing Brown in meant that someone needed to go, and it’s unfortunate that it was both Kailer Yamamoto and Klim Kostin that were the ones to pay the cap-induced price. From there, we looked around the league at some of the winners and losers from free agency. Every year, there are always a handful of teams that make news for what they do or do not get done, and that leaves plenty of room to pick some winners and losers. From the Leafs to the Bruins to the Islanders, we wrapped up this week’s appearance by looking around the NHL and what did or did not get done while also wondering what other dominos are left to fall as there are still plenty of players looking for jobs for next season.
