Bakersfield Condors set for first round matchup with Abbotsford Canucks

The Bakersfield Condors will be squaring up against the Abbotsford Canucks in the first round of the AHL playoffs.

Bakersfield finished its year with a 37-21-5-5 record this year placing fourth in the Pacific Division.

They clinched home ice in the best-of-three series that opens up Tuesday night. Game two comes Wednesday, before a long break before game three, if needed, in Abbotsford on the following Monday.

The Condors will rely on offence from a great group including Seth Griffith (30-50—80), Cooper Marody (21-34—55) and Adam Cracknell (21-26—47). Tyler Benson, who was sent down to Bakersfield in March, has appeared in 18 games scoring four goals and 12 points, and will help supplement the Condors’ offence. Stuart Skinner will be relied on heavily to shut the door, much like he has all season.

As one of the best goalies in the league, Skinner posted a 22-7-5 record, a .920 save percentage and a 2.21 GAA all the while posting a league-high five shutouts.

A few prospects will get some good playoff experience, too. Dylan Holloway (8-14—22 in 33 GP), Raphael Lavoie (13-13—26), Noah Philp (3 GP) and Carter Savoie (2 GP) will all get their first taste of pro playoffs, too.
