A fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never can only mean Wednesday afternoon and that you’re on the back half of your work week. Are you excited? I’m excited.
Kicking off this week’s BLTN, I started with a recap of what has been a somewhat boring week in terms of personal news, and how it was nice to be home every night after what was a very busy Heritage Classic week. Having nothing to do gave me a chance to catch up on some sleep and get caught up on all of my favourite shows, including the first episode of a ridiculous new dating show on Netflix. Getting back to the Oilers, the week’s big news was obviously the organization’s decision to waive Jack Campbell and assign him to the Bakersfield Condors, hoping he can find his game. Given that Soup hasn’t been able to stop anything since arriving in Edmonton, it wasn’t surprising to see him waived, but rather that the organization actually decided to take that option. In his place, Calvin Pickard will look to provide some stability between the pipes, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned that he’ll be able to make that happen through no fault of his own. I also looked at the Connor Brown injury that kept him off the ice the last two games and whether there’s any merit to the idea that he should be the next one waived to recoup some cap savings for next season. Lastly, I wrapped up the episode with another Righteous Sack Beating and a fresh round of voicemails to get your take on everything that’s been happening since last week’s episode. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
