According to the Edmonton Oilers, Laurent Brossoit has been reassigned to the Bakersfield Condors after backing up Cam Talbot for the last few nights while Al Montoya recovered from illness.
It’s been a strange season for Laurent Brossoit. He was named as the backup in training camp and was challenged with being prepared to play at a moment’s notice, or whenever Cam Talbot needed a rest. Back in November, Cam Talbot was placed on the injured reserve with a back injury and Brossoit was thrust into the starter’s role with an opportunity to show that he did indeed belong in the role. After struggling with consistency, Brossoit was replaced as Talbot’s backup by Al Montoya who was brought in after a trade with the Canadiens.
After the trade, Brossoit returned to Bakersfield to resume his place as the Condors’ starter, a role he’s been successful at in the past. However, what we don’t know is what the future holds for Laurent Brossoit as his contract will run out at season’s end and Montoya still has another year left on his deal with the big club. In 22 games played with the AHL Condors, Brossoit sports a 11-7-1 record with a .912 save%  and a 2.72 GAA.
