However, the Oilers have been dominant during their current 7-0-0 run on home ice. The team has been steady at both ends of the ice during that stretch, averaging four goals per game while limiting opponents to just 1.71 goals per game and no more than two markers in a single outing during that stretch.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins remains on the shelf as he struggles to recover from a concussion that has sidelined him for the past three games. Acquired ahead of last week’s trade deadline, veteran defenseman Dmitry Kulikov has yet to join the team while adhering to quarantine protocols. And while the team has managed to post wins in three of its past four games, neither Connor McDavid nor Leon Draisaitl have managed to find the back of the net over the team’s past three contests.
The Oilers have struggled to fill the net during their recent light schedule, averaging just 2.33 goals per game over their past nine outings. That has fueled a reliable 9-0 run for the UNDER on the totals at online betting sites. However, Edmonton has claimed victory by multi-goal margins in each of its past three wins after seeing three of its previous four wins come by just a single goal.
Meanwhile, the Canadiens will be searching for answers as they prepare to take on Edmonton as +110 underdogs. Monday’s contest marks just the fourth time this season that the Canadiens will be listed as road underdogs. However, Montreal has hardly looked worthy of being set as a road favorite over the past two months, posting wins in just three of its past 12 dates away from the Bell Centre.
Overall, the Canadiens have lost six of their past nine games, and remain just six points up on fifth-place Calgary in the North Division standings. Montreal averaged just 1.89 goals per game during that stretch, while allowing four or more goals on five occasions.
