The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) announced its all-conference teams earlier today and Edmonton Oilers’ prospect Carter Savoie was one of the names included on the list.
After earning All-Rookie honours last season, Carter Savoie added another accolade to his ever-growing resume after being named the Second-Team All-NCHC.
Edmonton selected Savoie 100th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and since that time, he’s joined the University of Denver and thrived.
In his sophomore year, the Pioneers star forward hit the 40 point mark in 32 games, doubling his points tally from his freshman year. His 20 goals are tied for first on the Pioneers along with senior Cameron Wright.
He finished as a top ten scorer in the NCAA and is second amongst skaters in the NCHC. Along with that, he’s 6th in goals and 8th in points per game in the NCAA.
Anyone who has tracked Savoie’s career knows he is a natural goalscorer. In junior with the Sherwood Park Crusaders, the St. Albert native produced 53 goals in 54 games as a 17-year-old. His ability to score goals has also translated nicely to the collegiate level making him a high-end prospect for the Oilers.
Also joining Savoie on the all-second team is Michael Benning brother of former Edmonton defenceman Matthew.
Savoie and the University of Denver wrap up their regular season this weekend against the University of Miami (Ohio).
