After the trade deadline comes and goes, it’s always interesting to see how our former friends do in their first games with their new team. This year, there were only three roster players that got moved before the deadline and all three guys had varying levels of success in their first game with their new club.

MARK LETESTU

Mark Letestu had gone more than 20 games without a goal before being moved to the Blue Jackets, but it did not take him long to get his first in Columbus. In his 13:13 worth of ice in his CBJ debut, Letestu finished the night with a goal, two shots on net, and went 67% in the faceoff circle. All-in-all, a fine debut for the test tube. In his second game with the Jackets, Letestu played 12:06 and had no shots on goal.

PATRICK MAROON

In Patrick Maroon’s debut with the Devils, he finished the night with two assists, including the assist on Taylor Hall’s goal in the gif above. In 13:16 worth of ice time, Maroon finished the night with the two points, five PIMs, and 17 shifts for the Devils. Another fine debut for the former Oiler.

BRANDON DAVIDSON

In Brandon Davidson’s first game with the Islanders, he wound up playing another former team in the Montreal Canadiens. Like the others, he too got on the scoresheet but only with a pair of penalty minutes. In his debut, Davidson finished the night with 16:51 worth of ice time, an even plus/minus, and no shots on goal.
