In only his 244th NHL game, Connor McDavid registered his 200th assist with a helper on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ first-period goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning, making him the ninth player in NHL history to register 200 assists in under 250 games played.
With tonight’s assist, Connor McDavid added himself to a very impressive list of players to get their 200th assist before even playing 250 games. Considering that Connor is only the ninth player to achieve the feat, it really shows just how impressive of a puck distributor that he is and how lucky we are to have him and tonight’s assist was no different. For tonight’s milestone, McDavid and Nugent-Hopkins finished off a beautiful give-and-go play in the slot that set up RNH for a one-timer and impossible shot for the goaltender to stop. The puck was on and off McDavid’s stick in less than a second, and all of a sudden, the Oilers had a one-goal lead. Have I mentioned lately how grateful I am that he’s an Edmonton Oiler?
