The NHL preseason has had another round of casualties as team’s begin to reduce their rosters as the drop drop on the 2019-20 NHL regular season nears. The @Edmonton Oilers announced that they have cut their training camp roster down by six players, sending them all to the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL.
The move comes on the heels of the team dropping the second game of the 2019 preseason, a 4-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena last night, although none of the six players who are being sent to the Oilers’ AHL affiliate saw any preseason action.
The cuts now reduces the training camp roster to 46 players: 27 forwards, 14 defencemen and five goaltenders as the team heads back to Edmonton ahead of a re-match against the Canucks on Rogers Place ice on Thursday, with puck drop at 7pm.
Stay tuned as more cuts are surely on the horizon with the Oilers opening their regular season on Wednesday, October, 2nd.
