As if we should be surprised.
For the sixth time in his career, Connor McDavid has been named to the NHL All-Star game. It wasn’t the only milestone for McDavid on Thursday night as he also cashed in his 500th assist. It came on Kailer Yamamoto’s first period goal against the New York Islanders.
McDavid’s currently having the best season of his career this year scoring 33 goals and 73 points in 39 games heading into the night’s games. He’s carrying a 15-point lead on teammate Leon Draisatil, who sits second in the league in scoring, and an 18-point lead on Tage Thompson and Jason Robertson. His scoring rate of 1.87 points per game is far and away the best of his career.
He’s not the only Oilers player who could head to the game: Leon Draisatil, Zach Hyman and Stuart Skinner are all eligible to be voted into the game by fans.
