As I’m sure many of you have seen, celebrities and athletes from all different walks of life taking part in the #PlankTheCurve challenge on social media to remind their followers to stay indoors as much as possible in order to slow the spread of COVID-19, and this morning, Edmonton Oilers legend, Paul Coffey, posted his first-ever Instagram video to join in the cause.
Coffey’s message:
“We’re Canada and we do not lose — we never lose a challenge. We don’t lose Stanley Cups, we don’t lose Canada Cups, and we don’t lose Olympic gold medals — we do not lose. Know why we don’t lose? We’re respectful, we’re the greatest country in the world, we listen and respect everybody around us. So stay inside. We can beat this virus. We will beat it.”
As the Coronavirus story continues to develop and evolve, more and more people of note are using their platforms to try and encourage fans and followers to stay indoors as a means of “planking the curve.” Basically, we’re looking at the 2020 versions of ALS challenge but rather than dumping ice water on our heads we’re all being encouraged to sit inside and watch TV. As far as challenges go, the request to channel our inner hermit and binge watch Tiger King is probably one of the easiest things we’ll ever be able to do to help society so I’m going to go ahead and listen to Mr. Coffey on this one.
Stay safe, everyone.
