NHL History: Jari Kurri scores his 300th career goal
By baggedmilk
4 years agoIt was on this day in Edmonton Oilers history that sniper and future Hall of Famer, Jari Kurri, scored the 300th goal of his illustrious career in a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.
On April 6th, 1986, the Oilers squared off against a lowly Canucks team in their final game of the 85-86 season for one final tune-up before the playoffs. It was in the third period of this game where Jari Kurri set a personal milestone with his 300th career goal. At 16:26 in the final frame, Kurri scored an unassisted marker while shorthanded to reach the plateau which, coincidentally, acted as the halfway mark of where he would eventually end up for career goals.
Kurri would play four more seasons in Edmonton before eventually being traded alongside Dave Brown and Corey Foster to Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Craig Berube, Craig Fisher and Scott Mellanby.
